You begin your year in the midst of a yearly personal pleasure peak, with 40 per cent (and sometimes 50 per cent) of the planets in or moving through your 1st house. A happy month. The pleasures of the body’s five senses offer themselves to you. Health and energy are good. Self-esteem and self-confidence are strong. You look good and you feel good.

The planetary power is now in its maximum Eastern position. Thus you are in a period of maximum independence. You can and should have things your way, and this is an excellent time to create conditions as you desire them to be. There’s no need to ‘people please’ these days (though others should always be respected). Take the actions you need to that will create personal happiness and harmony.

Last month the planetary power shifted from the upper to the lower half of the Horoscope. It’s a new year (because of your birthday) but it’s also night-time in your year. Career demands are strong and you seem very active there, but start paying attention to your emotional needs and to the home and family. It’s time to build up your inner forces for your next career push in six months time. Work on your career by interior means: set goals, visualize, enter the feeling-state of what you want to achieve. Then when the next career period comes, your actions will be natural, powerful and effortless.

With Mars in your 10th house you will still be active – in a physical way – in your career. Do the things that must be done physically, but work primarily through inner methods. The retrograde of Venus, the career planet, reinforces what we are saying here.

The month ahead is prosperous. On the 20th you enter a yearly financial peak. Money comes from work, from your spouse, partner or current love and from insurance, estates or creative kinds of financing. Tax issues and estate planning (for those of you of the appropriate age) are influencing many financial decisions now.

Love has been wonderful for many months now and is still good this month. Many a marriage happened last year and marriage could be on the cards in the year ahead too. This would not be a good month for it though. Venus is retrograde and the occupant of your 7th house of romance, Jupiter, is also retrograde.

The planetary momentum is overwhelmingly forward this month; 80 per cent of the planets are moving forward. Not only that, but your personal and the universal solar cycles are both waxing. (Your personal cycle starts to wax on your birthday.) This is an excellent time to launch new ventures or release new products into the world.
